What Coffee Maker Should You Buy?

Are you plotting to buy a coffee maker soon? If it has been some time since you have bought one, you may be amazed at the number of options now available. For example, there are ones that grind the beans directly in the machine, others that offer a built in water filter, and programmable machines that will have your coffee ready for you before you even get out of bed in the morning. Before you go shopping, you may want to take a few moments to jot down the features that are most vital to you.

What are your size limitations? If you are going to be using the machine in a dorm room or on your desk at work, you will want a smaller unit. If you are going to use it at home, determine where you want it and take some measurements. For example, if it will be placed on your kitchen countertop, measure the width of the space, but also measure the maximum height to ensure you will have enough clearance between the top of the machine and the bottom of your cabinets.

Would you like to brew one cup at a time, or an entire pot? Along with size, you will also need to consider how many cups you want the coffee maker to brew at one time. One of the primary factors to consider is how many cups or servings you would like your coffee maker to brew.

If you do choose to buy a single cup coffee maker, make sure it can brew the types or kinds of beverages that you want. Some are limited to only the pods sold by the manufacturer, while others can be used with your favorite brands.

What automated features do you want? For example, do you want to be able to get everything ready the night before, and program the machine so that it starts brewing before you get out of bed in the morning? For safety and convenience, do you want an auto shutoff feature? The bells and whistles that come with coffee makers can vary widely. Ensure that you are getting the automated features that you want before making a buy.

Would you like to be able to grind coffee beans directly in your machine? Some are perfectly pleased with ground coffee from the store, while others have a taste for freshly ground. You can use a separate coffee grinder, or save space in your kitchen by selecting a coffee maker that will grind the beans directly in your machine.

Is the aroma of the coffee as vital to you as the flavor? Unfiltered water may contain chlorine and other substances that affect the aroma. Water filters are available in some coffee makers – these filter out minerals and impurities, improving both the aroma and the flavor of the beverage.

As you can see, there are a lot of things to consider before deciding on a coffee maker. But, do a small homework before shopping, and you should have no problem finding a machine that is perfect for your needs.
