Mothers Day Gifts

Mothers Day is on the second Sunday of May.  For 2010, Mother’s Day will be on May 9th. This article informs the origin of Mother’s Day, and provides some suggestions for selecting the perfect gift for mom.

Mothers Day in the United States was proposed by Anna M. Jarvis (1864-1948). Her mother, Mrs. Anna Reese Jarvis was a minister’s daughter and taught Sunday School for 20 years in the Andrews Methodist Church of Grafton, West Virginia. The younger Anna Jarvis was only twelve years ancient when she listened to her mother’s wish during a Sunday school lesson on mothers in the Bible, that one day someone would found a memorial mother’s day. There were many days of observance for men, but none for women. Two years after her mother died in May of 1905, Anna Jarvis and her friends started a letter-writing campaign to gain support in declaring a national Mother’s Day holiday. She felt children often neglected to appreciate their mother while the mother was still alive. She hoped Mother’s Day would increase respect for parents and strengthen family bonds. On May 8, 1914, the Congress designated the second Sunday in May as Mothers Day. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Mothers Day as an official national holiday.

Mothers Day has been observed annually thereafter. There are so many ways you can show your like to your mom. Sending mom a gift on her special day is a fantastic way to let her know how much you appreciate her unconditionallove. There are many Mothers Day gifts to choose from. Among the well loved gifts are Mothers Day gift baskets, breakfast basket, red roses, coffee gift basket, gardening or spa gift.

A fantastic way to show your appreciation to mom is to send her a Mothers Day gift basket. These baskets usually come with either a book of loving tales about mothers, or a music CD featuring a gorgeous song about mother’s like, along with tasty treats, votive candles, and picture frames. Some contain matching ceramic tea pot and mugs and other keepsakes for mom.  Your message of like and gratitude will be clearly delivered. You can also send red roses, either by themselves, or along with the gift basket. These stunning rose bouquets are all time favorites for Mothers Day.

To start your moms special day right, send her a breakfast basket. This gorgeous cloth-lined breakfast basket is filled with fantastic bread and muffins, and other breakfast favorites. It is a sure way to get  her day start off right.  Alternatively, you can send her a basket of tasty muffins in 8 different flavors.  Both gifts are tasty way to start her day. The muffins are available specifically as gifts for grandma too.

If your mom is an avid gardener, you may want to send her a gardening gift. Filled with gardening tools, floral gloves, gardening knee pad, a variety of flower seed packets for planting, and tasty treats, it is a fantastic gift to let her know that you have not forgotten about her.  If your mom’s leisure activity is in golf, you can send her a women’s golf gift. She will be pleased to receive this basket filled with lady’s golf balls, putting cup, a book of wisdom for golfers, and gourmet snacks.

Alternatively, spa gift basket is a fantastic choice to help mom to relax and rejuvenate. You can pamper mom with spa gift baskets filled with bath and body lotions, gels, bath salts, aromatherapy potpourri, terrycloth slippers and bath pillows, and chocolates. Some come with yoga instruction book and CD, others come with picture frame, candles, and a wall plaque that proclaims “Mothers Made The Best Friends”.  There are also pedicure gift with all mom would need to pamper her feet, and a gift with microwavable cotton bootie and lotions to warm and massage her tired feet.

Finally, coffee break gift baskets are fantastic gifts to say relax and delight in. While you may not be able to give mom a hand with her chores, you can give her a relaxing break. Let mom knows she deserves a break with a coffee gift basket filled with chocolates, gourmet coffee, and scrumptious treats. If your mom is a tea lover, you can send her a tea gift basket that she can share with family and friends.

In conclusion, there are so many ways to show your appreciation to mom. You can send her Mother’s Day gift baskets, breakfast baskets, gardening gift, spa gift, red roses, and coffee gift basket. She will like any of these gifts, and your message of gratitude.

Gifts For The Coffee Lover

Gifts For The Coffee Lover
By Victor Epand

We all drink coffee, well most of us do, so at Christmas or on a birthday, a coffee gift can be an brilliant way to show you care. But, beyond buying, well, more coffee, what can we do to make a special coffee gift to a special coffee lover?

We will ignore buying specialty coffee here, because that is simply too simple to do, instead we will focus on various other types of coffee gifts there are to give.

Customized mugs, which say something along the lines of World’s Best Husband, are a excellent way to give a coffee lover a unique gift. You can usually find a place that will place anything you want on a coffee mug, including a special picture, saying or a goofy graphic. Another option is to make a coffee mug yourself through clay pottery. If you don’t know how to do that, paint a special design on a coffee mug using paint pens. This will give the cup much more sentimental meaning.

Coffee makers are a pretty standard gift for a coffee lover, but you can go the extra mile and get them one with all the bells and whistles. An even better option is to buy them a coffee maker that doubles as an expresso or cappuccino machine. Once the coffee lover has had a taste of cappuccino from their own machine, they won’t be going back to regular coffee.

Specialty creamers are available in every grocery store and, for a relatively cheap price, you can add a Mocha, French Vanilla or Butterscotch flavor to your usually dull coffee. The only problem with this gift is that once you buy it for the coffee lover and they get a taste of it, they are going to want it from then on. Be prepared to foot the bill.

Flavored stir sticks are a unique type of way to add a punch to any coffee. Recipes can usually be found on the internet and most will dissolve as you stir. If you go healthy, you eliminate the need for sugar in coffee, which as we all know, can be very unhealthy.

For the healthy nut, you might look for some of that soybean coffee. Its different than soymilk, and yet it doesn’t have the caffeine. Roasted soybeans are used to imitate the flavor of coffee, and the result is often remarkable.

The last, and best gift, you can get a coffee lover is a gift card to a coffee shop. This will allow them to buy the coffee they want or the accessories they need. Most coffee shops, especially the larger ones, offer this option.
